Pass It On: Writing Your Family Story
with Carmen Goldthwaite
Monday, July 15th | 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Perhaps our richest legacy to family, friends and community is “our story.” It’s what gives us voice. It’s our strength. It’s how we pass on to younger folk what’s important based on how we’ve come to be.
So, that’s taking the fruits of genealogy research, the people, and wrapping that information with time and place, weaving the story of one person or one family’s journey from time past to today. That’s what we’ll be doing in the Writing/Workshop class this summer! “Pass it on.” Sometimes family stories work best as essays; at other times, memoir; still others, “fiction” and for some the personal narrative. We’ll address some of the principles and “how to’s” of each so you leave with a notion of how to form your story as well as how to write it!
