These aren’t your mom’s library events… or your little brother’s! Teens aged 12 to 18 have their own interests and Teen Legion offers presentations and workshops that will entertain, educate and inspire.

Teen Kick-off Party
Summer starts right here! With the blockbuster sequel hitting theaters this month, there’s no better time to watch Men in Black III (Rated PG-13, 106 minutes) and learn more about what the library has to offer this summer.

Monday, June 10th, 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.

The Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse
A unique disaster-preparedness program just for teens. Our guest presenter talks about the science and fiction of the walking dead and discusses strategies to survive the end of the world. You can also enjoy our live-action survival game!

Monday, June 17th, 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.

Teen Tech Challenge - Scratch
M.I.T. developed Scratch, a visual programming kit, to teach basic coding, but it’s also a great way to make mini-videogames. Join us for a quick intro to Scratch, followed by a 40-minute coding challenge.

Monday, June 24th, 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.

Extra Furry
For teens who love wild animals, there is nothing like meeting one face-to-face. In this presentation just for teens aged 12 to 18, Critterman is your guide to animals from all over the globe.

Monday, July 1st, 2:30 – 4:00 p.m.

The Code Duello
In this exciting sword-fighting presentation, the stage combat specialists from A Play on Swords delve the history of dueling and discuss how actors on stage and screen fight without ever drawing blood.

Teen Tech Challenge: Board Games
Any humble board game is an amazing—and fun—feat of technology. In this interactive workshop, we go old school and learn how to design our own games.

Space Art 
If you are inspired by the marvels of the universe but don’t know how to draw a straight line, have no fear – you can bring the stars and moon to Earth with a little imagination! Learn how to paint galaxies, design cities on Mars and much more in this hands-on arts and craft workshop.
