Show All Answers
1.
What is the Weatherford Emergency Notification System?
CodeRED is an automated telephone message delivery system used by the City of Weatherford during emergency situations which pose a threat to life or property or require citizen participation.
2.
How can I sign up to receive CodeRED alerts and notifications?
Use the following link to register online or call the Fire Department at 817-598-4292.

3.
Will areas outside of Weatherford city limits be covered?
Areas outside the city limits of Weatherford are not included in the City’s agreement with CodeRED. Citizens of Parker County residing outside the city limits of Weatherford should contact the Parker County Office of Emergency Management at 817-598-0969, or their County Commissioner, to inquire about emergency notification in their area.
4.
What kind of emergencies will it be used for?
Although the system is designed to notify citizens of all types of emergencies, it is currently set up only for emergency notifications relating to non-weather events. If you also desire weather alert notification, you will need to register a primary telephone number by accessing the CodeRED enrollment link or by calling the Weatherford Fire Department at 817-598-4280.

5.
How will it work?
Upon activation, a message will be recorded and then sent by computer to telephones at addresses within the area designated by the Incident Commander.
6.
What will I have to do?
If the message directs you to do something, such as stay in your house, follow the directions given. In situations such as this, you will be contacted when the emergency is over.
7.
How will I know that it is the City of Weatherford calling?
You will hear an introductory message stating, “This is the City of Weatherford. Please stand by for an Emergency Alert Message”, then the message will follow. If you are concerned that the message is not real, you can call your neighbors to see if they have gotten the same message. Or, as a last resort, call the Police Department. Remember, they will be busy! CodeRED is completely secure, but there is no way to ensure that someone will not try to imitate it for the wrong reasons. Use common sense.
8.
What happens if I don’t have a phone?
Police will, if necessary, go door to door to notify people if there is a problem. Weatherford CodeRED dramatically reduces the number of personal contacts that emergency responders must make.
9.
What if I am not home when my telephone is called?
If you have voice mail or an answering machine, Weatherford CodeRED will leave a message.
10.
What if I have an unlisted number or a cellular number?
There is an online registration system for members of the community who have unlisted phone numbers and cellular numbers.

What if I do not want to receive a phone call?
If you wish to have your phone number removed from the automated calling register, please contact the Weatherford Fire Department at 817-598-4280 and we will assist you.
12.
What number can I call if I need assistance or if I have more questions about the CodeRED system?
Call the Weatherford Fire Department at 817-598-4280.
