1. What is the City’s Property Tax Rate?

The City’s current property tax rate is $0.4636 per $100 of assessed valuation.

2. Is this my total tax rate?

No. The City is only one of several taxing authorities with overlapping jurisdiction for City of Weatherford residents. The combined tax rates for most Weatherford residents depending on what school district the property is located in are as follows:

3. Does the City of Weatherford bill me for my property taxes?

No. For several years, the City, school districts, County and other special billing entities of Parker County have contracted with the Parker County Appraisal District (PCAD) to collect property taxes on their behalf. The contact information for PCAD is:

4. What property tax exemption does the City provide?

The City provides a $25,000 over-65 exemption as well as a freeze option for over-65 and disabled property owners.

5. When is my property tax due?

Property taxes become due and payable October 1 and are delinquent if not paid on or before January 31.

6. How do I protest my property value?

The Parker County Appraisal District listed above hears all protests on property values. Please contact them at the above location for details.

7. What is the City’s sales tax rate?

The State of Texas levies a sales tax of 6.25% on all purchases state wide. The City of Weatherford levies an additional 1.5% and Parker County levies an additional .5% for all eligible goods purchased in the City of Weatherford for a total of 8.25%

8. Who collects sales taxes for the City?

Businesses, including the City of Weatherford Utilities, collect sales taxes for purchases made and submit those to the State of Texas by the 20th of each month. The State then keeps their portion and distributes, for a fee, to all other collecting entities. You can contact the State Sales Tax Office at:

9. Does the City collect Hotel Occupancy Tax?

Yes. In accordance with Texas Tax Code and City of Weatherford Code, hotels, motels, lodging houses, inns, rooming houses, and B&B’s within the City of Weatherford must collect and disburse 6% of the price paid for the room to the State of Texas and 7% of the price of the room to the City of Weatherford.

11. Does the City collect Gross Receipt Tax?

Yes. The amounts and deadlines for such fees vary by negotiated contracts.

12. What is the City's fiscal year?

The City of Weatherford’s fiscal year is October 1 – September 30.

13. Does the City collect Lake Lot License Fees?

Yes. The City collects a Lake Lot License Fee for certain properties located on Lake Weatherford. Fees are per a contracted rate, billed by the City July 31st and payable by October 1 to:

14. How does the City invest public funds?

The City invests public funds only through instruments and rules as established by the Texas Public Funds Investment Act and the City of Weatherford Investment Policy.

15. How do Brokers/Dealers get registered with the City?

The City reviews and approves its investment policy in November. Brokers/Dealers can submit application to be on the approved broker/dealer list in December, and the City Council will select Brokers/Dealers in January. Further information can be obtained through the City’s CFO at (817) 598-4220.

16. How does the City procure goods and services?

The City procures goods and services only through policies and procedures established by Texas Local Government Code and the City of Weatherford Purchasing Policy.

Accounts payable checks are distributed on Fridays after 3 p.m. and are mailed to vendors, unless otherwise indicated.
