The Weatherford Economic Development Authority, Inc. and the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce co-hosted the 7th Annual Industrial/Manufacturer Appreciation Luncheon on February 22, 2012 at the Doss Heritage & Culture Center with over 140 attendees.

The lunch and program were provided through generous community sponsors including:  Main Event Sponsors: State Bank of Weatherford and State Representative, Phil King; Program Sponsors: Plains Capital Bank, THE BANK of Weatherford, BBVA Compass Bank, Jacob & Martin LTD – Consulting Engineers, Jerry Durant Auto Group, Weatherford Electric!/AEP Energy Partners/City of Weatherford, and Stewart, Brooks & Bates, CPA’s; Event Sponsors: Ashley Conlon - Century 21 Judge Fite Co., Snow Garrett Williams, Certified Public Accountants, Weatherford Economic Development Authority, Inc. and Weatherford Chamber of Commerce.

The annual event continues the 7th annual recognition of the Industrial/Manufacturer ‘BUSINESS OF THE YEAR’ in 3 employment size categories: Large: Schlumberger International Technology Training Center – Rick Sexton, Training Director; Mid-Size: Imperial Construction, Inc. – Jeff Jones, President; and Small:  All Coat Powder Coating/Ryan Manufacturing – Mary Ryan-Kimbrell, Owner for their outstanding growth achievement, community involvement, unique product innovation/marketing and outstanding employment practices.  The awards were presented by Randall Young, Vice President of the Board, Weatherford Economic Development Authority, Inc. and Mark Worthington, Chairman of the Board, Weatherford Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to the three ‘BUSINESS OF THE YEAR’ awards, the Business Retention and Expansion, ‘BRE VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR’ was also acknowledged.  The BRE VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR was Brad Mobley, AMSOIL Dealer.  A special RUNNER UP recognition was made this year to Claudia Bowden, Account Manager for North Central Texas Workforce Solutions.  Both were recognized for their outstanding efforts to retain existing businesses through monthly visits by volunteers to our existing industrial/manufacturing and commercial businesses.  The BRE (Business Retention and Expansion) committee meets monthly and routinely visits existing businesses to express appreciation for being the foundation of the Weatherford economy.

The Keynote Speaker of this event was Commissioner Todd Staples, Texas Department of Agriculture, and was introduced by Dennis Clayton, Executive Director of the Weatherford Economic Development Authority, Inc.

Mr. Mark Worthington, Chairman of the Board of the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce served as Emcee for the day and introduced the presentations for ‘Business of the Year’.
