REACT came to life in 1999 when Parker County law enforcement agencies, Freedom House, and the Parker County Co-Op came together to focus on the need in Parker County to provide support to victims who have suffered a traumatic experience.
The group organized extensive training for volunteers to create a team that could respond at the request of any Parker County law enforcement agency to assist with the needs of victims and provide on-scene crisis intervention.
For more information or if you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact MaryLou Curry at Freedom House at (817) 596-7543 or Tina Maxwell at Weatherford Police Department.
Team training includes topics such as:
Crime Victims' Compensation
Law Enforcement Procedures and Protocol
Dealing With Death/Grief
Alcohol and Drug Abuse
After the Initial Training
Once the initial training is completed, volunteers are required to attend a monthly meeting/training session and have scheduled on-call time frames when they may be called out at the request of law enforcement.
