1. What do I do if I just received a citation?

Your citation will be filed in the court the next business day. You may call the court for general information, but must make an appearance in person or by mail to take care of the citation.

2. What is the process to pay for a citation?

You may appear in person at City Hall, located at 303 Palo Pinto Street; or place in the night drop on the west side of City Hall; or sign the plea form on the back of the citation and mail it along with a legible copy of your driver's license or ID with the payment to: Weatherford Municipal Court, PO Box 255, Weatherford Texas 76086

3. When and how must I appear to take care of my ticket?

You have 15 calendar days from the date you received your citation to appear. You may appear in person, by mail or by attorney.
If you fail to make your appearance within the 15 days, a warrant may be issued for your arrest.

4. When can I find out how much my citation is?

Citations are normally filed the next business day.

5. Can I take care of my ticket from another city here?

No, we are not set up to take payments for other agencies, including Parker County.

6. Where do I pay parking tickets?

Parking tickets may be paid at the municipal court window located at city hall.

7. Can I take care of my husband/wife’s ticket?

No, only the person who received the citation or their attorney may enter a plea.

However, once the plea has been entered and arrangement has been made, anyone may make the payment.

8. Can I get an extension to pay over the phone?

No. In order to get an extension, you must make the request in person as you may be required to see the Judge.

9. Where does the money from my payment go?

Your payment is distributed to separate fees and costs. The fine portion, as well as, part of the costs is deposited in the city’s general fund. The fees are sent to the State and distributed into different funds such as the state traffic fund, child safety fund, judicial support fee, and the consolidated fee.

10. What does FMFR mean?

FMFR stands for Fail to Maintain proof of Financial Responsibility. Most individuals carry liability insurance as their proof of financial responsibility.

11. How long will this stay on my record?

A conviction for a traffic offense stays on your record permanently; however, insurance companies may only go back 3 years on your history.

12. Do I have to have an appointment to see the Judge?

No; our Judge is generally in the office during regular business hours; however, you may want call to make sure he will be in when you plan on coming in.

13. How can I find out if I have a traffic warrant?

You can make contact with the Court Officer by calling 817-598-4120. The Court Officer’s duties are to act as court Bailiff and to arrest any persons with outstanding Class C warrants issued out of the Municipal Court. If you believe you have an outstanding warrant for your arrest issued out of Weatherford Municipal Court, please see the Court Officer for assistance in resolving your warrant issues.

14. What are the hours of the municipal court?

The City of Weatherford Municipal Court is open Monday—Friday 7:30am—5:00pm excluding holidays. They can be reached by calling 817-598-4120. The Court Clerk is the contact person for municipal court.

15. Where is the municipal court located?

The municipal court is located at city hall (303 Palo Pinto Street) in the southern part of the building.

16. What is deferred disposition (probation)?

Deferred disposition, when requested, is a means of having a violation dismissed. If granted by the Judge, you may be placed on deferred for a period of time set by the Judge and will have specific terms or conditions set by the Judge. If complied with, your case will be dismissed.

17. Can I take a driver safety course to get my ticket dismissed?

If eligible, you must pay a fee and request to take a driver safety course to keep a ticket off your record
