Blake Rexroat 2019

Prior to his work with the City of Weatherford, Blake Rexroat established a rich background in communications, marketing and event management. After graduating high school, Rexroat left his hometown of Gordon, and headed to the University of the Ozarks in Arkansas to pursue his Bachelor of Arts in Communication. During his undergraduate education, he specialized in communications and also attained a minor in marketing. To better familiarize himself with the world of journalism, he took several courses related to the field, served as an anchor for his college’s TV station and dabbled in reporting. Originally intending to focus on communications for colleges, Rexroat went on to Arkansas Tech University, where he attained a Master of Science in College Student Personnel. During his graduate studies, he worked for the University of the Ozarks as an admission counselor and an admission data coordinator. Within a year of completing his second degree, he decided to head back to his home state, picking up a job as the University of North Texas’ special projects coordinator. His final position before coming to Weatherford was serving as assistant director of student affairs administration for UNT. During this time he organized the university’s distinguished lecture series, where several acclaimed speakers were contracted, including Condoleezza Rice, Robert Gates, John Legend, Discovery Channel’s MythBusters (Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage), Rainn Wilson, Jeff Corwin, Ken Carter and Robert Huizenga.

Rexroat started with the City of Weatherford as the special events coordinator and now serves as the City’s Director of Communications and Marketing. He is responsible for the City’s communication and marketing plan, social media, media relations, internal communications, tourism and all City websites. He is a 2017 graduate of the Certified Public Communicator Program through the Bob Schieffer College of Communication at Texas Christian University (TCU) and was the 2017 TAMI Award winner for Internal Communications under 100,000.

His wife Lauren is a nurse practitioner for the Palo Pinto General Hospital Gordon Clinic in Gordon, TX. They have three children: Wiley (girl) and Landry (boy) and Allison (girl).
