What We Do

The Transportation and Public Works Department is committed to providing services and infrastructure in a quality manner through the use of modern engineering and management practices with a team of people dedicated to professional excellence and customer satisfaction. We strive to accomplish these tasks efficiently, effectively, safely and with accountability to the community we serve. We also ensure that the long-term strategic goals of Weatherford’s comprehensive plan are maintained by providing direction and oversight of new infrastructure development.  

The Transportation and Public Works Department is comprised of 5 divisions.

Services We Provide

  • Issue Right-of-Way Construction Permits. 
  • Maintain over 190 miles of public streets and right-of-way.
  • Construct and rehabilitate existing City roads through a Neighborhood Street Improvement program. Stormwater system management and maintenance.
  • Coordinate projects and activities with State, County and neighboring agencies.
  • Update Transportation Thoroughfare Plan including Hike & Bike Master plan.
  • Review and inspect new developments to meet City’s Standards and Specifications.
  • Administer the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program.
